Jesus replied, “The first commandment is, ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your spirit, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ The second is ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There’s no more important commandment than these.” (Mark 12:30-31)
Love the Lord our God is the first commandment. With all our heart, with all our spirit, with all our mind, and with all our strength. The second is to love our neighbor as ourselves.
Love ourselves. Difficult task. Love ourselves with all our life-story, flaws, past sins, remorses. Fragile God’s child in need of everything. Beggars of grace.
Let’s change the focus.
Have you ever thought you were being imagined by God before the Everest showed up? Before the rainbow sparkled in the air on the day Noah’s Ark opened, you were in His thoughts. Before your first cry was heard, the Lord imagined the timbre of your voice. Even before your eyes formed in your mother’s womb, he had chosen what colors he would paint them and how your hair would combine in full harmony.
In God’s symphony, every voice has its right timbre and color. Love the Lord, whose infinite grace and mercy keep your heartbeat running every second. He would seek you till the end of the world. And he is always available for a chat.
The more I dive into Your mysterious grace, Lord, the more I know and love my self.
