Workers: Love Witnesses

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 2: 3-5)

Work is the environment in which all the weaknesses of man are exposed more clearly. Greed, will of power, jealousy, to mention but a few. It is also an essential place for collaboration, for broadening understanding, to promote dialogue and to enrich ourselves with the diversity arising from the people around us.

Many times we have to work with people who do not share our values and faith. Often, people who reject faith carry on their backs painful stories.  Nevertheless, each person we work with has the same destiny as ours and holds the same wish for happiness, being children of God.

Therefore, as witnesses to God’s Love, we should pray daily for our workmates and beg Our Lord to give us patience and strength to bear each other’s flaws and differences. Most times, avoiding reactions proves wiser than let ourselves go by rage or discord. It will be helpful, for us to begin our working day properly, to offer our day to His Glory with a brief prayer:

Dear Lord, you have placed me here to lead these persons to their destiny. Strengthen my faith, give me your patience and help me so that I can love You in every task and in every word I speak. Amen.
